I won't get into all the bells and whistles this machine offers since its all pretty well documented on this page and elsewhere. I will say that anyone interested in upgrading their old laptop should seriously consider what Toshiba has put together here. They call this a "gaming laptop" which right-off-the-bat should indicate that it has power to pull off the calculations and graphics required to claim that title. Like you I looked into the details of what is under the hood and realized that it just might be strong enough so I made the purchase.No lie, before I even got it out of the box I was impressed. I had it set up in about 5 minutes and was sitting at the pretty "chicklet style" backlit keyboard. I then downloaded Minecraft a game I play that had serious difficulties operating on an older Dell I own and tah-dahaa she was running smoothe. I've since tried other more intense online titles like Champion's and SWTOR. To my surprise they work well.The laptop is a looker and everywhere I take it people ask me about it and then reget it because I can't stop talking about the darn thing. So, where is the downside. I find only two things that could be considered a negative issue. One is the size of the AC adapter, it is HUGE and when it is discribed as a brick its pretty darn close to the edit. The second thing is "you need a bigger boat" the laptop is long and heavy in its own right so get a bag that can carry it and the brick. I bought the Mobile Edge Premium Laptop Backpack - 17.3" from the Amazon site as well.Are there better more powerful laptops out there, YES. But at the equalibrium of price and performance you can't beat this laptop. Hope that helps making your decision easier.

Updated May 16th.So far my laptop still performs perfectly. I LOVE it! When I play game like WOW, I turn on the highest effects and the best quality effects in the game, it's still a smooth sailing! I couldn't believe it. I have no problem switch windows between the game and browsers. The fan is loud when I play the game. I think I will get a fan stand for it anyway. The fan catches dust easily so remember to clean it more often especially I have pets.Also, the speakers still amaze me. It's not super but it is great speakers for a laptop.I love that I have options of how I want the back lit keyboard to light up.I will do some work with photoshop and other graphic and web design stuff soon so I'll see how it will perform then I will update it again.--I got this laptop on April 7th. Even though I chose two day shipping, but it arrived here one day early!The adapter is just like other say- it's huge! If I want to bring the laptop and the power cord with me, I can imagine how heavy is's gonna be on my shoulder.But I still give it 5 star review since I don't really need to bring it out a lot. The picture looks awesome, especially when I play WOW, when I turn on any program, it shows up really fast too.Nice keyboard, love the LED backlight when hit the keys. Speakers are just like other say- nice than I expected. Looks sleek.Overall, it's a ice laptop. You can't beat the price! <3

I finally purchased this laptop after doing a few weeks of research. It had everything I wanted, nvidia gtx, i5, and enough RAM with a price that I couldnt find anywhere else. I got this laptop specifically to play games on. So far I love it! It has awesome graphics it runs WoW on ultra settings with out a single problem. And I'm planing to play GW2 with it. One thing that really surprised me was the sound, I wasn't really concerned with the sound when I was looking at laptops, but the speakers on this laptop are amazing! I highly recommend this laptop for personal use or gaming.
