Excellent Laptop
By Oscar Saavedra
The service of the seller is just EXCELLENT.In the other hand you get the power of a Desktop in a 17" laptop. The best laptop under 1000$ for gamers, I'm playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 with Graphics settings in "High" @1600x900 and it runs Smooth, the HP beats audio sounds very nice for a laptop, the webcam is great also the fingerprint.Contras: No bluethooth, limited memory card reader, the display need more contrast, need more quick access buttons. If u have 1000$ and need a new Laptop, this is the right choice.

5 star computer ; jury still out on HP support
By Brad Vanek
First of all, I didn't buy this from Amazon's site...Had it built at HP. It's difficult to buy something (like a computer) from an incomplete description. The overall build of this computer is quite nice and the only thing that gets negative is the missing HP support software and no set up instructions????Contacted them and they agreed to send a set up/boot disc at no charge ( so I upgraded my review to 4 stars.) That said, if I graded this outright on performance, it gets 5 stars. Very solid build, nice wide screen, and 2 year warranty on hardware and tech support.tech support; This is where the jury may still be out. HP has a rather dubious history in the support department. You know, the usual outsourced support you get connected to. The ones that read a script in "almost understandable" English. (but who do you buy from nowadays that offers straight up tech support?) They do have "HP Support Assistant" software that is generally installed on new computers. I have it on my HP desktop and it is very useful and helpful. This was left out on this laptop for some reason (was able to download it at the HP site). So the key here is to get it right the first time and spend less time and money on dissatisfied customers. You also need to foolproof your system enough to allow a novice (me) to be able to use your product right out of the box...hence give them good, easy to follow instructions and follow it up with non subcontracted support. Americans can read from a script and their English is so much easier to understand. What are we now, 9.5% unemployed ? Fortunately, I was able to contact an American HP case worker to get some assistance that actually listened to my issues and then asked what she could do to help/resolve my problem. (it is noted that the lack of set up documentation and initially no HP Support software, setup disc, or written set up instructions for/on the computer caused some anguish that could have been avoided) So 4 stars for what looks to be a 5 star machine. reliability also still not confirmed...See you in a year or two for an update on this add; I believe HP is moving forward and may be progressing towards better customer satisfaction. As for their computer builds? Well, this is still to be determined, but a equivalent Dell computer costs more and their reliability and support have fallen off considerably in the last decade.

Great product.

Display is bright and crisp.Laptop is sturdy, feels solid.Keyboard is comfortable, and solid.Touchpad is a bit finicky, but not so much that it's annoying. Barely noticeable.Battery life is good for a product of this size/brightness.Beats Audio is a dream.Webcam is passable. If you're looking for a fast and affordable desktop replacement, this is the machine you want.
